Inferno Properties operator

The Inferno Properties operator allows you to sample properties from an Inferno simulation and apply those properties to particles.

Inferno Properties Rollout

Grid Source

  • Grid source: controls which simulation data source is sampled.

Solver: properties are sampled from the live solver each frame.

Recall cache: properties are sampled from cached data stored by an Inferno Recall operator.

Reference flow recall cache: properties are sampled from the recall cache of a separate tyFlow object.

Density

  • Float channel: when enabled, the simulation density value at each particle’s position will be written to the specified custom float channel.

Color

  • Map channel: when enabled, the simulation color value at each particle’s position will be written to the specified particle mapping channel.

  • Vector channel: when enabled, the simulation color value at each particle’s position will be written to the specified custom vector channel.

  • Inherit Inferno Display fire color: when enabled, the color sampled from the simulation will be derived from the fire color gradient configured in the Inferno Display operator, rather than the raw color grid value.

  • Intensity: a multiplier applied to the sampled color.

Temperature

  • Float channel: when enabled, the simulation temperature value at each particle’s position will be written to the specified custom float channel.

Velocity

  • Vector channel: when enabled, the simulation velocity value at each particle’s position will be written to the specified custom vector channel.

  • Inherit %: when enabled, the simulation velocity sampled at each particle’s position will be applied to the particle’s own velocity, scaled by the specified percentage.

  • Time scale relative: when enabled, the inherited velocity will be scaled relative to the current time scale of the simulation.

  • Variation %: the per-particle percentage of variation to apply.
  • Mode: the integration method used when sampling velocity from the simulation grid.

Euler (Fast): single-step Euler integration. Fastest but least accurate.

R-K 2 (Better): second-order Runge-Kutta integration. More accurate than Euler.

R-K 4 (Best): fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration. Most accurate.

  • Operation: controls how the inherited velocity is combined with the particle’s existing velocity.

Add: the sampled velocity is added to the existing particle velocity.

Blend: the sampled velocity is blended with the existing particle velocity, weighted by the inherit percentage.

Replace: the existing particle velocity is replaced with the sampled velocity.

  • Influence X/Y/Z: controls which world axes the inherited velocity will affect. Disabling an axis prevents the sampled velocity component along that axis from being applied to the particle.

  • Simulate substeps: when enabled, particles that first enter the event will inherit a random amount of velocity, simulating the effect of the particle entering the event at a random substep, rather than on a whole frame.

Relative to property

The relative property multiplier scales the inherited velocity based on a particle property value relative to a threshold.

  • Property type: the particle property used to drive the multiplier.

  • Threshold: the target value to which the selected particle property will be compared.

  • Min/max multiplier: the computed multiplier will be clamped to this min/max range.

  • Exponent: the exponent applied to the ratio between the particle property and the threshold. Increasing this sharpens the transition between the min and max multiplier values.

  • Invert: when enabled, the multiplier will be inverted.

Inside/Outside Active Voxel

  • [Take no action]: no test is performed based on voxel occupancy.

  • Test TRUE if not inside active voxel: particles that do not fall inside an active simulation voxel will satisfy the test condition and be sent to the operator’s output.

Uniqueness

  • Seed: the seed value for all varied parameters.
