The Inferno Blast operator can be used to spawn Inferno-friendly particles for creating explosive effects.
Inferno Blast is designed to be used in combination with an Inferno Emitter operator. The particles it spawns carry per-particle density, temperature, color, scale, and velocity properties that the Inferno Emitter can read and inject into the simulation, allowing each particle to contribute its own independently-configured values to the fluid grid.
Count: the number of particles to spawn per parent particle.
Divergence: the angle of random divergence applied to each individual spawned particle’s direction.
Spread: the cone angle within which spawned particles will be distributed.
Delete parent: when enabled, the parent particle will be deleted after spawning.
Max age: the maximum lifespan of spawned particles, in frames.
Save [age / lifespan] value: when enabled, each particle’s normalized age (current age divided by max age) will be saved to the specified custom float channel each step. This value can then be used to drive lifespan-based curves in the per-property rollouts.
Channel: the custom float channel to write the normalized age value to.
Velocity: the initial speed of spawned particles along their spawn direction.
Inherit %: the percentage of the parent particle’s velocity that spawned particles will inherit.
Override scale: when enabled, the scale of spawned particles will be set using the values below rather than the default particle scale.
Scale %: the base scale of spawned particles.
The curve editor maps normalized particle age (0 to 1) to a scale multiplier applied over the particle’s lifespan.
Override source density: when enabled, the density value contributed by each particle to the Inferno simulation will be set using the values below.
Density: the base density value assigned to spawned particles.
The curve editor maps normalized particle age (0 to 1) to a density multiplier applied over the particle’s lifespan.
Override source temperature: when enabled, the temperature value contributed by each particle to the Inferno simulation will be set using the values below.
Units: the temperature unit system used for the temperature input value.
Temperature: the base temperature value assigned to spawned particles.
The curve editor maps normalized particle age (0 to 1) to a temperature multiplier applied over the particle’s lifespan.
Override source color: when enabled, the color value contributed by each particle to the Inferno simulation will be set using the gradient below.
Hue variation %: the amount of random hue variation applied to each particle’s color.
Value variation %: the amount of random brightness variation applied to each particle’s color.
The gradient editor maps normalized particle age (0 to 1) to a color value applied over the particle’s lifespan.
Each of the three velocity contribution types can be independently enabled and configured. The curve editor in each section maps normalized particle age (0 to 1) to a velocity multiplier over the particle’s lifespan.
Override source pressure: when enabled, the outward pressure contribution of each particle to the simulation will be set using the values below.
Pressure: the base pressure value assigned to spawned particles.
Override source motion velocity: when enabled, the motion velocity contribution of each particle to the simulation will be set using the values below.
Motion: the base motion velocity value assigned to spawned particles.
Override source normals velocity: when enabled, the normals velocity contribution of each particle to the simulation will be set using the values below.
Normals: the base normals velocity value assigned to spawned particles.
Count: the number of trail particles to spawn per parent particle.
Max age: the maximum lifespan of trail particles, in frames.
Inherit %: the percentage of the parent particle’s velocity that trail particles will inherit.
Divergence: the angle of random divergence applied to each trail particle’s inherited velocity direction.
Inherit %: the percentage of the parent particle’s scale that trail particles will inherit.
Delete with parent: when enabled, trail particles will be deleted when their parent particle is deleted.
